What to Expect

Established by Chinese immigrants from Western Canada at the end of the 19th century, this  small neighborhood in Montreal is diverse, very vibrant and unlike any other Chinatown.

You will get the chance to taste a wide variety Chinese food in five venues, some totally hidden out of view! You will learn the story of the community, the neighborhood and the food businesses visited, often stories about immigration and building something out of nothing. The menu will explore four regional Chinese cuisines plus three sweets.  This is a chance to get under the surface of the real Chinatown in this fun activity for everyone.

Please be sure and let us know if you (or anyone in your group) has a dietary restriction (e.g. vegetarian, diabetic, allergy, etc.) when you purchase your tickets. As long as we know in advance, we can accommodate your needs.

The distances are short on this tour and we don’t do a lot of walking.

The food is included and planned. We eat a lot, but not right away. Don’t come starving, but be ready to eat too!

We recommend coming and going in transit or taxi. It is very hard to park where the tour starts in Old Montreal or in Chinatown.

The tours are held rain, shine, or snow. In the event of inclement weather, we will be able to go inside many of the establishments on the tour. We also provide ponchos in case of sudden weather changes or if you do not have your own umbrella. However, we advise to check the weather conditions for your days event and dress appropriately.

This is a wonderful tour, one that will fill your stomach and mind. Our tour guide made our experience engaging from start to finish. She was very interested in what kinds of foods we liked and disliked, then really customized all of our tastings/meals. Be hungry for this tour !
